Waterside Tablescape

One of my favorite things about summer, is that we get to entertaining outdoors.  It is about having fun, hosting dinner Al Fresco and sitting under the sun with family and friends.  I like setting my table in different areas of our garden and when I want to make an evening extra special, I make arrangements to dine waterside.  Whether it is near a river, lake, bay or ocean, there is nothing more relaxing than waterfront dining.

There is nothing else like it.  It makes us feel relaxed, laughter comes easily and conversations last a little longer.  All you need is a sunny day, a nice bottle of wine, a simple menu and a good company.  Keep in mind that setting a fabulous table does not mean a lot of work.  Simplify your menu and elevate your style.

Make things exciting and play-up the beachy theme.

Keep it simple, but do make it a bash to remember.  Use a tablecloth or placemats to add dress your table a bit.  For this table I chose colors that complimented the vibrant and captivating palette of the water, mixing blues, greens and neutrals to create a relaxed and stylish waterside setting. I love these Seasons Radiance accent plates from Lenox!!!  A simple teal napkin and my favorite gold flatware, Imperial Caviar by Lenox were the perfect additional accent to the table setting.  The stemware is from Anthropologie.

For the centerpiece I stuck to the shore theme.  I just laid a few seashells along the center of the table runner and added a couple of votives to add ambiance to the table.

When it comes to summer wines, keep it light. A nice Rosé or Pinot Grigio would be a good choice.  Keep the wine cool by putting it in a bucket filled with ice on the table if you prefer.  And don't forget the wine opener!!

So have fun.  Relax this summer and take your entertaining outdoors.

Thank you for visiting.  I will be heading to the Flower Show in Newport, Rhode Island this weekend.  It is held at the Rosecliff Mansion and I just can't wait to see all the fabulous flowers there.

See you soon.

Janet

  1. I thought both the plates and stemware were very pretty, restrained but interesting. What my eyes kept coming back to was the pillow on the chair - it had all the colors in your tablescape and the intricate pattern was surprisingly soothing.
